Cat5e UTP

The twisted pair cable can be divided into UTP (Unshielded Twisted Pair) and STP (Shielded Twisted Pair). UTP is composed of several pairs of twisted pair cable and a plastic outer layer. STP is covered with aluminum mooring on the outer layer of the shield, which can reduce radiation.

Cat5e UTP and STP are the cable that some performances are improved compared with the normal shielded twisted pair cables, such as near end crosstalk, attenuation crosstalk ratio, echo loss and so on. But its transmission bandwidth is still 100MHz.

There is only a layer of insulating rubber wrapped outside the Cat5e UTP, but no metal shielding. So it is relatively cheap, and can network flexibly. Except for some special occasions (such as severe electromagnetic radiation, high transmission quality requirements, etc.) will use STP, we generally use UTP.
